Professor Matthias Middell from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy is the new Vice-Rector for Campus Development: Cooperation and Internationalisation. He takes office today after being elected by the Leipzig University Senate on 12 April. In the video, Professor Middell introduces himself and his vice-rectorate.

The Vice-Rectorate is responsible for the University’s strategic development as an “open-campus Leipzig”, in particular with regard to its profile and external positioning vis-à-vis its national and international partners, as well as with regard to interaction with the local society (in the sense of higher education contributing to dynamic urban development). Its remit also encompasses internal structural campus development, particularly with regard to the strategic development of research buildings, and academic infrastructure development. Furthermore, the Vice-Rectorate manages the universal task of internationalisation in all performance markers (teaching, research and administration), a task which has an external and internal impact.

In the video (English subtitles available), the newly elected Vice-Rector talks about his motivation, his tasks and his priorities while in office.
